ΠΕΤΡΟΣ Ξ. ΧΑΤΖΗΓΡΗΓΟΡΗΣ FRCS, FACS
Γεννήθηκε το 1957 στην Αθήνα. Αποφοίτησε από το Γ΄ Γυμνάσιο Αρρένων το 1975 και από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών το 1982. Ειδικεύθηκε στην Ορθοπαιδική Χειρουργική και Τραυματολογία στο Birmingham της Αγγλίας. Έγινε Διδάκτωρ της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών το 1989 και στη συνέχεια εξειδικεύθηκε σε αρθροπλαστικές επεμβάσεις στην Endo-Klinik του Αμβούργου (1992) και το UCLA της Καλιφόρνιας (1993-1994).
Από το 1997 έως το 2004 διετέλεσε Καθηγητής και Διευθυντής της Ορθοπαιδικής Κλινικής του Πανεπιστημίου της Γλασκώβης όπου και έκανε περί τις 2.000 αρθροπλαστικές επεμβάσεις κάτω άκρων. Υπήρξε μέλος δεκάδων επιτροπών εκπαίδευσης, σχεδιασμού ιατρικών υπηρεσιών και προσλήψεων προσωπικού του Εθνικού Συστήματος Υγείας της Βρεταννίας και είχε την ευθύνη οργάνωσης της Ορθοπαιδικής Κλινικής του ιδιωτικού νοσοκομείου Health Care International στη Γλασκώβη.
Είναι μέλος του Βασιλικού Κολλεγίου Χειρουργών της Βρεταννίας και του Αμερικανικού Κολλεγίου Χειρουργών. Έχει συμμετάσχει σαν προσκεκλημένος ομιλητής σε ιατρικά συνέδρια δεκάδων χωρών. Παράλληλα έχει τιμηθεί από σειρά διεθνών επιστημονικών εταιρειών γιά το έργο του, το οποίο περιλαμβάνει πάνω από 100 δημοσιεύσεις και 900 βιβλιογραφικές αναφορές.
Από το 2003 είναι Επίτιμος Καθηγητής Ιατρικής Μηχανικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Bradford της Αγγλίας. Σε συνεργασία με την εταιρεία Zimmer, έχει σχεδιάσει μία αρθροπλαστική επιφανείας ισχίου (hip resurfacing) γιά αρθριτικά άτομα νεώτερης ηλικίας η υψηλού επιπέδου δραστηριότητας. Η πρωτοποριακή αυτή πρόθεση χρησιμοποιείται με επιτυχία στις περισσότερες χώρες του κόσμου όπου γίνονται αρθροπλαστικές επεμβάσεις.
Από το 2004 ζει μόνιμα στην Ελλάδα όπου εργάζεται στον ιδιωτικό τομέα. Είναι συνεργάτης του ΔΘΚΑ “ΥΓΕΙΑ” και του “ΙΑΣΩ General”. H ερευνητική του δραστηριότητα συνεχίζεται με βάση τα Πανεπιστήμια της Γλασκώβης και Bradford. Από το 2005 είναι Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής στην Ορθοπαιδική Κλινική του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών.
